TWO MOONS MARKING UN INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS WITH RELEASE OF ‘HUMAN RIGHTS, MY WELLBEING’ BOOKLET IN FOUR LANGUAGES

2-year pan-European initiative, is making available My Human Rights, My Wellbeing booklet in four languages,
English, Romanian, Finish and Italian.

This booklet highlights the inequalities older persons in Europe experience in their daily life. It aims to raise awareness among older persons of their rights as protected under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD); and by so doing empower them to safeguard their well-being. The stories also draw attention to the
existence of age inequalities and the societal and structural issues such as ageism which permit older people
to be treated differently and denied their rights.

The Two Moons project is a collaboration between six organisations in four countries. The project is committed to developing a number of educational resources that will make human rights real and relevant to the daily lives of older persons across Europe and highlight for states issues of concerns they need to address to mobilize political will and resources to address these issues.

These resources include:
• A documentary theatre script consisting of six monologues relating to older persons’ experiences of inequalities
• A guide to hosting ‘Our Stories: Human Rights and Older People in Europe’ Documentary Theatre and Talkback
• ‘Listen to my story’, audio recording of the six dramatized monologues for use in workshops and community radio.
